My nearly 20-year association with Chuck Acklin began when I was a newly minted, 32-year-old Region Distribution Manager for Fresenius Medical Care. Fresenius was amidst a post-merger environment following its acquisition of a competitor. One result of the merger was the co-mingling of Fresenius’ organic and newly acquired storage and distribution facilities — including eight that I was entrusted with — along with their respective (but differing) corporate cultures and norms. Chuck’s training program created a common platform for the team to examine how to measure, track, share, and evolve results. The level of training engagement encompassed a full spectrum, from hourly associates to supervisors and managers. In this way, Chuck’s methods aided me in empowering my team. The “language of results” became pervasive and assisted me in effectively leading my region and collaborating with my counterpart, the other region manager, on areas of common interest. Within two months, my part reversed its P+L into positive territory and made a budget every quarter through my departure three years later. Chuck’s techniques were enduring and positively influenced my personal life — my marriage and fatherhood, for example — particularly in goal setting and leveraging my strengths. I still have some of the work products from his training sessions and refer to them from time to time today.
John earned a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Executive Development. In August 2017, I described VOLTI in a meeting with David Warner and John. John said as we walked to our cars, "There is nothing as easy to learn and sustainable available in the United States as what VOLTI developed."

You've been a true mentor and more. Reflection (and you) also taught me there are many varieties of personalities, mixed with various cultural and even self-inflicted factors that can make or break a business relationship or project. And while it's one thing to come in with a virtual briefcase full of templates or solutions, it's quite another to be able to walk up to anyone, listen to their "story," and be able to adapt, support, guide, or - if needed, to share with that individual precisely what they (not I) may need. you've taught me how to help others help themselves. To be a guide and a project "sherpa.” This wasn't completely done with consulting "tools" nor the various books you've had me read (which did help, by the way). Your love and passion did this for guiding me (us) to do the right things while helping me manage to learn. VOLTI was active in my plant. Managers and supervisors who engaged their teams with VOLTI experienced fewer performance/behavior challenges than those who chose not to engage VOLTI. Those participating with VOLTI implemented and sustained my plant Development Dimensions International initiatives and Corporate Wide Training (Development Dimensions International, Pacific Institute, Covey Leadership, and DiSC) with greater ease and measurable Human Resources and Production improvements than those without VOLTI : Supervisors improved their leadership ability as measured by the: Morale - Team member complaints about Supervisors decreased. He and his wife were unable to create what they expected when they purchased their franchise region. Ranked #70 for production in their franchise, he was ready to quit. The Delran Jersey solutions plant was small. It could not achieve production and quality expectations. With outdated equipment, existing employees, and VOLTI, they became leaders in production. Their union teams’ efforts returned 113% efficiency outdated machines and diverted a plant shutdown.
